Holiday Wish List

Of all the times of year, the holiday season is one of the most popular for giving to help others. This year we’ve made it easier than ever to help Make a Wish Come True! We’ve put together a selection of our best programs to help students get through the day and feel good about themselves. We invite you to browse this holiday wish list, then choose how you will Make a Wish Come True—today and into the future.

Thank you for helping to Make a Wish Come True.

If you want to help a student who may be hungry while at school, this is one way to do it. Food for Learning makes it possible for schools to offer breakfast, lunch and snack programs free of charge to students, providing access to nutritious foods so they feel ready to learn.

Your donation could provide:

$30 = Breakfast for one student for a month
$70 = A basket of fresh fruits and vegetables
$200 = A toaster and a grill for a school kitchen
$500 = Food to an entire school for a week

Sometimes life throws curve balls that cause unexpected difficulties. The Student Emergency Fund makes it possible for students to receive immediate assistance when they need it the most.

Your donation could provide:

$65 = Winter boots for a student
$100 = Groceries for families experiencing food insecurity
$250 = Eyeglasses for a student who needs vision correction

The reality for some students is that food and hygiene products are not always available at home. Nutrition Cupboards offer access to these essentials at five HPEDSB secondary schools. Students can open the cupboard doors to discretely choose what they need, tuck them away in their backpack, then head home. It’s like getting a helping hand from a friend.

Your donation could provide:

$50 = 20 students with one meal at home
$100 = Hygiene items for 20 students (body wash, feminine products, etc.)
$250 = 100 meals and snacks outside of school

The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation is the preferred registered charity of Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.

As the Director of Education, I appreciate the partnership with The HPELF to benefit HPEDSB students and their learning. The Make a Wish Come True campaign can make a positive difference for students. Thank you for your support.

Katherine MacIver

Director of Education

Dear Donor,

For 20 years, The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation has supported the students, families, and schools in Hastings and Prince Edward counties, through programs like Food for Learning, Student Emergency Fund, and more recently Nutrition Cupboards at five high schools. All of this has been possible through the generous support of donors like you, as well as our many partners and volunteers.

The rising costs of food and energy are affecting everyone. Over the fall, more and more students have been accessing the Student Nutrition Programs and the Student Emergency Fund.

In this season of giving, I invite you to join me in donating to the cost of running these important programs. Your support to the children and youth in our area, and the work of The Learning Foundation is more important now than ever before.

Another way you can help in the work of The Learning Foundation is by joining our volunteer Board of Directors. We are always looking for new skillsets and new ideas. If you would like to learn more, please feel free to contact me.

Happy Holidays,
Geoff Cudmore
