More Ways To Support
In-Kind Donations
Your contribution of food, supplies (napkins, dish soap), kitchen tools and appliances are also welcome donations for our student nutrition programs. A tax receipt for your non-cash donations can be issued for the amount equal to fair market value of the items donated. If items are purchased new (groceries, for example) submitting the store receipt will allow you to receive a charitable tax receipt for the amount that you spent. To process all other in kind donations, a written invoice or other supporting documents are needed that can determine the fair market value of that item. To further discuss an in-kind donation please call 613-966-1170 extension 62232 or email kbrace@hpedsb.on.ca. Please note: All food received to support a Food for Learning program must meet the MCCSS Student Nutrition Program Nutrition Guidelines. Donated food that does not meet these guidelines will be forwarded to a local food bank.
Planned Giving
Gifts That Will Last Forever: How To Support Students Through Your Estate. Wills and Charitable Bequests A charitable bequest made through your will is a simple and impactful way of giving. A bequest in a will may allow you to leave a more substantial gift to Food for Learning than you would have been able to give during your lifetime. In your will, you can choose to leave Food for Learning, c/o The Learning Foundation a specific piece of property, securities, cash or a percentage of your estate. Your support will help Food for Learning ensure that every child has access to nutritious meals and snacks while at school. Other Benefits include:
- Satisfaction of providing a future gift while retaining control of your assets during your lifetime.
- A charitable receipt to your estate.
- Reduction or elimination of estate taxes through careful planning.
- An opportunity to honour or memorialize a loved one or yourself by establishing a named endowment fund.
If you would like to remember Food for Learning in your will, some sample wording you may wish to use is: Residual Gift In Your Will “My estate trustees shall pay_______% of the residue of my estate to Food for Learning, c/o The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation, Belleville, ON, for the purpose of supporting Food for Learning student nutrition programs in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.” Specific Gift In Your Will “My estate trustees shall pay the sum of $______ (or transfer assets with an equal value) to Food for Learning, c/o The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation, Belleville, ON, for the purpose of supporting Food for Learning student nutrition programs in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.” Leaving a gift in your will is simple: Speak to your lawyer about drafting or revising your will or adding a codicil. Letting us know that you have made a bequest allows us the opportunity to thank you today and ensure that your gift can accomplish what you would like it to.
